Difficulty: difficult/black . Total duration: 5 h . Distance: 41.3 km . Ascent: 1917 hm

One of the most beautiful panoramic trails in the Zillertal leads from Mayrhofen into the Tuxertal and then up to the Wanglalm. Follow the main road B169 to the Ginzling turn-off, following the bike sign 422. At the turnoff, continue left on the country road in the direction of Ginzling. Following the course of the road, you reach the Zemmgrund on the gorge road. At Jochberg, turn right along route 422 and arrive in Finkenberg after a few more metres in altitude. Cross the town and follow the Tuxer Straße into the valley. The route runs through galleries until you reach Vorderlanersbach. After the supermarket at the large fountain, turn right along the road.

Follow the MTB signs to Wanglalm. After crossing the Rötlbach stream, it is not long before you reach the tree line. Continue past relics of the former magnesite mine and follow the gravel path that leads steadily uphill in many serpentines. Once you arrive at the Wanglalm, you have completed the difficult part of the route. Now comes the absolute highlight of the route: The section up to the Penkenjoch is one of the most beautiful parts of the route in the entire MTB network. Turn right shortly after the Penkenjoch and ride along the newly laid path to the Penkenbahn. From here, take a gravel path down to Astegg and onto the road through Finkenberg and then back to Mayrhofen. A wonderful day tour for bikers in good shape.
