Take the bus or car to the Schlegeis reservoir. The hut trail to the Friesenberghaus begins between the tunnel exit at the dam wall and the Schlegeis mountain restaurant, and takes you first to the Neue Dominikushütte junction, where you take the branching trail to the right. On this path you first cross the Alelebach stream, then a driveway, and a little later you walk on planks through a marshy meadow. After crossing the Falschseitenbach stream, you climb through mountain pines to the pasture area of the Friesenbergalm (2,036m), from where there are beautiful views of the Schlegeisstausee lake. Behind it, the trail turns into the Lapenkar, and the Friesenberghaus, still a good 90 minutes away from here, becomes visible for the first time far up in the cirque. Now walk slightly uphill into the large cirque, over the Lapenkarbach stream to the right, then up a step, back into the valley, then always up the slope to the right, and finally in a large curve over a steep step below the hut. Continue to the right over large slabs of rock created by glaciers to the Friesenberghaus.
